About Us

Couple-run Japanese sushi counter in Coburg by Shingo and Rena Tochimoto, who traded for five years from Brunswick Market before reopening in April 2026 in a hand-built 17-seat shop at 4/12 Victoria Street — across the mall from Half Moon Cafe and facing a car park with three hours free parking (Broadsheet reopen, SMH Good Food syndication via AlongWalker). Shingo trained for more than a decade at his grandfather's sushi restaurant in Tokyo; the concise, affordable menu stays seasonal around nigiri, chirashi, donburi, onigiri and miso soup, with blowtorched salmon and yuzu scallop among staple nigiri, chicken nanban and agedashi tofu among warm rice bowls, and rotating specials such as soy-simmered kingfish collar when the kitchen allows (Broadsheet; DoorDash Coburg categories; Marvobites diner review with chuutoro and chirashi pricing). Lunch Thu–Mon 11am–3pm (Broadsheet May 2026; Google Places and DoorDash align on 11am–3pm / 2:40pm close; Marvobites lists 11:30am open — minor variance); occasional weekend dinner service and a future liquor licence are planned.
