About Fork & Flag

Fork & Flag is a free, community-built guide to authentic world food. We rank food venues by cuisine using ratings from real foodies who know — not ads, not paid placement, and not generic star scores.

How we rank food venues

Every food venue earns a Fork & Flag Score out of 100, built only from genuine community ratings across five things that matter — authenticity, food quality, how likely you'd recommend it, vibe, and value for money. The score adjusts for how much evidence exists, so a single enthusiastic rating can't push a venue to the top.

For foodies

Rate the places you eat to help rank them for everyone. Every rating earns Fork Miles and a Flag Stamp for each new cuisine you try — collect them in your Food Passport and climb the Fork Miles and Flag Stamps leaderboards.

Follow your Foodie Circle to see the venues the people you trust recommend.

Restaurants vs other food spots

Fork & Flag ranks fixed venues where sitting down for a full meal is the main experience.

  • Restaurants — places where you sit down at a permanent venue for a complete meal: casual, fine dining, fast food, or a brunch café.
  • Other food spots — everything else in the food world: food-court stalls, food trucks, drink-focused cafés, dessert bars, bakeries, takeaway-only shops, and food retail. We list these too so you can discover them, but keep them separate from the core restaurant rankings.

Melbourne first

We've started in Melbourne. New cities open as local communities contribute enough trustworthy coverage — never because a venue paid to be there.
