How ratings workAbout Tipsy Village
Tipsy Village is owner Peter Bernatt's Polish brunch-and-dinner room in a single-fronted Victorian shopfront on Coventry Street, directly opposite South Melbourne Market. Bernatt trained at Le Cordon Bleu London before returning to Melbourne hospitality; the cosy room serves heritage cooking from breakfast through dinner with verandah seating, a dozen Polish beers and Eastern European vodkas, and a long soup-and-pierogi list. Best-selling ruskie pierogi — potato, onion and house-made organic quark — share the menu with hunter's stew (bigos), Ukrainian borscht, white sausage double-baked in Polish beer, and crispy black pudding with pickled cucumbers and coleslaw.
