How ratings workAbout The Little Hungarian Restaurant
The Little Hungarian Restaurant is a small, family-run Hungarian dining room on Glen Huntly Road in Caulfield South, where chef Elizabeth Csuka (from Szelevény, Hungary) has served home-style Central European cooking for more than 20 years after decades at St Kilda’s Blue Danube and the Newmarket Hotel. The cosy room leans on embroidered tablecloths, folk art and regulars who followed Csuka from earlier venues; bookings and takeaway are by phone. Signature plates include paprika-rich beef goulash with nokedli and dill pickle, plate-sized Wiener schnitzel with smashed potato and creamed spinach, slow chicken paprikash, stuffed cabbage rolls, Thursday duck nights, and palacsinta for dessert, with Hungarian Dreher beers and palinka on the drinks list. Open Tuesday–Saturday from 4pm (official site lists “late”; Zest and Zmenu specify 9pm close).
