Tamura Sho-Ten is a Fitzroy-based Japanese dining and culture concept operating across two distinct venues. The original Tamura Sake Bar on Gertrude Street is an intimate counter-bar stocking an extensive curated selection of sake alongside thoughtfully prepared small plates — an ideal setting for solo diners or couples exploring Japanese flavours. The second venue, Izakaya by Tamura on Smith Street, takes a livelier approach with a broader menu of shared traditional dishes, ramen, katsu, and rotating daily specials suited to groups. The Sho-Ten concept extends beyond food: the sake bar doubles as a records shop selling Japanese vinyl, and both venues host live jazz events on a regular schedule.
