About Us
Supper Inn is a Melbourne Chinatown institution on Celestial Avenue — a timber-panelled stairwell leads to a no-frills Level 1 dining room that has barely changed since the Lau family opened around 1977. The kitchen serves Cantonese classics until 2:30am seven nights (from 5:30pm), drawing hospo workers, tourists and regulars for share plates, live seafood and a laminated menu hundreds of items deep. Time Out's Legend Award venue and Broadsheet cite hero dishes including roasted suckling pig with crackling like salty toffee, ginger-flecked chicken congee, Pacific oysters in aromatic soy, sizzling chilli quail, steamed flounder and XO pippies; BYO is part of the ritual. There is no active venue-run social account — reputation was built word-of-mouth. Walk-ins dominate; Uber Eats lists a delivery subset. Chef Tony Lu is named on AGFG.
