About Us

Glen Waverley Sri Lankan institution on the Blackburn Road strip, trading since 2015 when David and Cathy Cruse brought the Colombo Upali's concept to Melbourne. Rebranded Spicy Wicket in August 2024 after the Cruses bought out partner Upali Dharmadasa; the Colombo restaurant continues independently. The room still serves traditional Sri Lankan plates — lamprais, kottu, hoppers, regional curries and devilled mains — with a popular value lunch set and online ordering. Since the rebrand the venue has expanded into The 12th Man Bar next door, lined with cricket memorabilia and a timber beer garden; David Cruse's long hospitality career includes hosting Sri Lanka touring sides at the former Knox Tavern. Licensed dine-in, takeaway and delivery (within ~10 km); table bookings via the website widget or phone.
