About Us
Colourful Fitzroy arepa café on Gertrude Street, opened in 2010 by Colombians Santiago Villamizar and Carolina Taler and still centred on house-made white-corn arepas grilled to order (gluten-free). Counter-service breakfast and lunch seven days: arepas topped with ropa vieja, chargrilled pollo, huevos pericos or cheese-filled arepa de queso, plus empanadas, rotating South American single-origin coffee and Colombian hot chocolate served in an olleta with optional cheese. Retro mismatched furniture, Latin vinyl, guacamole and Carolina's mum's pica salsa, and the Chiquitica gallery space give the room a Bogotá-meets-Fitzroy feel. Walk-in only (no bookings); online pickup via the shared Masa Casa Square menu. Sister production kitchen Arepa Days opened in Preston. Google Maps lists business_status OPERATIONAL (Jun 2026) with no permanent-closure badge; official site states open seven days and Apple Maps shows active trading at 69 Gertrude St.
