About Shandong Mama

ShanDong MaMa is a family-run northern Chinese dumpling house tucked in Mid City Centre off Bourke Street in Melbourne's CBD Chinatown arcade belt. Founder Meiyan Wang ("Mama") and daughter Ying Hou bring Yantai coastal Shandong recipes — especially seafood dumplings with thin, translucent skins — to a compact, queue-friendly diner with cream walls and handmade everything. The menu centres on boiled dumplings (水饺), pan-fried potstickers (锅贴), and newer Jiaodong steamed buns (胶东烫面包); signature Spanish mackerel dumplings use line-caught Australian fish, while squid-ink skins wrap chicken, salmon roe, basil and coriander. Broadsheet and AGFG highlight generous serves, zucchini vegan dumplings, spring onion pancakes and Melbourne potstickers blending local seafood and herbs. Walk-in lunch and dinner seven days; dine-in and takeaway. ShanDong MaMa Mini on Centre Place is a sibling counter — this slug is the Bourke Street flagship only.
