Samurai is a compact, high-turnover Japanese restaurant on Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn — a slim two-storey dining room (often with a short waitlist) beside the former Levain Doughnuts site, popular with students and locals for cheap, no-frills sushi, sashimi, bento boxes, udon, gyoza, and donburi. Eatability notes complimentary green tea on arrival; Concrete Playground and regulars highlight the green tea milkshake and dinner-box value sets. The venue is unlicensed (no alcohol or BYO).
