Pellegrini's Espresso Bar is one of Melbourne's oldest and most beloved Italian institutions, operating continuously since 1954 at 66 Bourke Street. A family-run espresso bar and pasta kitchen, it serves an unpretentious daily-changing menu of classic Italian dishes — spaghetti bolognese, carbonara, tortellini, lasagne — from an open counter where diners sit elbow-to-elbow on bar stools. The room is unchanged across decades: chequered floors, a long marble-topped counter, and walls lined with photographs. Coffee is equally serious, with the same espresso traditions observed since opening.
