About Us

Oden is the Ishizuka group's oden-focused Japanese sake bar on Bourke Street — a Russell & George-designed ground-floor room next to sister restaurant Ishizuka at 139 Bourke, led by owner Melanie Zhang and executive chef Katsuji Yoshino. Guests build individual copper pots of seasonal ingredients in house chicken oden broth (daikon, fish cakes, tofu, seafood and luxe add-ins) alongside charcoal-grilled yakitori, share plates, Nick Tesar highballs and a wide curated sake list. Counter seating faces the open kitchen; a backyard garden extends the room for drinks. Online reservations for up to eight guests (1.5-hour sittings) via the official site; walk-ins welcome when space allows. Lunch Sat–Sun 12:00–2:30pm; dinner Wed–Mon from 4:00pm (closed Tuesday; Google Maps + official contact, Jun 2026). Sunday 10% surcharge applies.
