About Us
Family-run Somali cafe on Flemington's Racecourse Road strip, where owner Abdo Sean shares dishes rooted in Mogadishu and nearly two decades in Melbourne (Broadsheet). After earlier restaurant Hamar Weyne in Heidelberg, NSK opened here in 2015 to introduce Somali food to a wider audience (SBS Food). The compact halal menu centres on slow-cooked lamb (NSK Classic, $23), goat or bajeya open wraps, sambusa and black-eyed-pea bajeya, plus vegan chickpea stew and a cardamom-ginger Somali affogato (official menu, June 2026). The small communal dining room has industrial walls and Somali artwork; complimentary spiced broth and free bananas with meals are part of the house style (SBS Food). Catering is available for events (official contact page). Cash only, no liquor licence (AGFG); call or use the site contact form for bookings and functions. Dine-in Wed–Sun with split lunch and dinner sittings (official contact page, AGFG, Broadsheet, June 2026).
