Hana Assafiri's Moroccan Soup Bar has been a Melbourne vegetarian institution since 1998, built on communal dining, open hospitality, and North African flavours without meat. After closing the long-running Fitzroy North dining rooms on St Georges Road in June 2022, the kitchen reopened at 47–51 Boundary Road in North Melbourne with lunch and dinner dine-in, WowApps takeaway and delivery, and weekly Cookaborough meal packs. Expect spoken-menu-style banquets, the famous chickpea bake, harira and mezze dips, couscous and roasted vegetables, and the same social-enterprise ethos that trained women in the kitchen.
