About Mesob

On High Street Northcote, owners Naz Mahari and Dawit Kebede run Mesob—named for the round injera basket that anchors Ethiopian communal meals—from low mesob tables for couples and larger wooden tables for groups, with imported art, a straw-hut bar, and staff in hand-woven cotton. Organic teff injera underpins share platters of meat and vegetable wats; about half the menu is vegan. Berbere is blended by the chef's family in Ethiopia. Guests are encouraged (not required) to eat with their hands, with Tej, imported Ethiopian beer, wine, and Ethiopian-inspired cocktails. Weekend live jazz; owners often greet and farewell diners at the door. Book via OpenTable.
