Maison Bâtard is an upscale French brasserie and bar occupying four levels at 23 Bourke Street in Melbourne's CBD. Created by restaurateur Chris Lucas as a tribute to modern French dining, the venue spans a ground-floor oyster bar and rotisserie, a terrace dining room, a private members club, and Le Club — a basement dinner-and-cabaret space. The kitchen leans heavily on classic bistro and grand brasserie traditions: wet-aged prime beef on the grill, whole rotisserie duck and chicken, a fruit-de-mer bar with oysters and live lobster, and refined entrées such as Tournedos Rossini with foie gras and pâté en croûte.
