M Yong Tofu is a family-run Malaysian-Chinese restaurant on Racecourse Road near Newmarket station — a cramped, counter-order room that locals pack for Hakka-style yong tau foo: pick curry, chicken or tom yum broth, noodles, then load up on house-made stuffed tofu, bitter gourd, wontons and fish balls. The Age Good Food Guide scored it 14/20 in 2024 (“highly worthy of your regular noodle rotation”) alongside laksa, yam-ring chicken, jiggly egg tofu and roti canai. Online ordering runs through the venue’s myongtofu.com.au FoodHub site plus Uber Eats and DoorDash; dine-in remains counter service with cash still common.
