About Konjo Cafe

Family-run Ethiopian cafe and cultural hub on Irving Street in Footscray, owned by Abdul Hussen and Rozenn Blouin after merging their Konjo crafts shop with the restaurant in 2018. Berbere and other spice blends are prepared by Abdul's mother in Ethiopia and shipped to Melbourne; the dining room serves injera-based shared platters, kitfo, beef tibs and doro wot alongside clay-pot jebena coffee ceremonies using organic Ethiopian rainforest beans. Breakfast spans ful and silts; lunch and dinner mains come on injera with halal meat options. Ethiopian jewellery and crafts from Abdul's original 2004 Konjo shop remain on display and for sale. Book by phone ((03) 9529 1680) or SMS (0401 019 085); Good Food/Epicure coverage once ranked its coffee among Melbourne's best experiences.
