About Us

Family-run Thai chicken-rice specialist on the Hardware Lane corner of Lonsdale Street, opened in 2022 by Bangkok-born Chorlada "Corey" Ratchatapat and Nonthawat "Nathan" Kongsarai. City of Melbourne What's On, Broadsheet, and Time Out describe it as Australia's first restaurant dedicated to khao man gai: jasmine rice cooked in chicken broth with garlic and ginger, served with poached or fried chicken, cucumber, clear broth, and tao jiew or peanut sauce — about nine rice-plate variations plus a combo (Piset). The laminated two-page menu also lists chicken curries, tom yum noodles, crab rangoon, and Thai milk teas; the room is licensed (Singha, Miss Thailand cocktail per Time Out). QR-code ordering at tight indoor tables with terrace seating on the lane. Google Maps, Corner (May 2026), Melbourne Insider, and Uber Eats list the venue open with no permanent-closure badge. Web-presence attempt 0/3: no operator-owned Australian domain — probed khaomangai.com.au, khaomangai.net.au, khaomangairestaurant.com, and khaomangaimelbourne.com (all unresolved); khaomangai.com is Nong's Khao Man Gai in Portland OR; khaomangai.yqme.com.au returns null merchant; thai-to-go-109686.square.site is an unrelated US Square storefront. Google Maps, Thaimall, OzSeer, and Wanderlog link @khaomangaimelbourne on Instagram; City of Melbourne What's On is the official city listing with address, phone, and owner email rchorlada@yahoo.com.
