About Kata Kita

Kata Kita is Lie and Dion Sanusi’s second Indonesian restaurant after Yoi — a large Bali-grill dining room at the Melbourne Central entrance on La Trobe Street, opened November 2021 with rattan, stone and marble interiors by TA Square. The kitchen specialises in charcoal grilling: signature babi guling with lawar and sambal embe, ikan bakar pomfret on banana leaf, bebek goreng Madura, nasi goreng and sate ayam, plus Balinese cocktails. Shareable modern Indonesian plates; walk-ins welcome and set menus for groups of 12+. The venue was among La Trobe Street tenants briefly locked out in October 2025 during a landlord dispute and reopened on 17 October 2025 (Broadsheet); the official site and OpenTable list active 2026 hours and bookings.
