About Gimlet
Andrew McConnell's European-style cocktail bar and fine dining room on the ground floor of the 1920s Chicago-style Cavendish House on Russell Street — part of Trader House Restaurants, designed by Acme with art deco columns, burgundy booths and a central marble bar. Open since 2020, the menu threads classic European technique through Victorian produce: oysters and snacks at the bar, wood-fired meats and seafood, optional caviar service, and a Friday–Saturday supper menu until 1am. Walk-ins welcome; online reservations for 1–8 guests up to three months ahead (SevenRooms), Palm Room for up to 12. Sister pre-dinner bar Apollo Inn on Flinders Lane. Sunday and public-holiday surcharges per official reservations page.
From diners
We enjoyed a polished European‑style night out at Gimlet with crab toast on brioche, seasonal asparagus and radishes, wood‑fired strip steak and seafood pasta trottole with king prawns, then sorbet and baked dark chocolate with cream – an elegant progression that makes this place a strong pick for special occasions.
