About Us

Victoria’s oldest ethnic club (founded 1860) runs as a 900-member Deutscher Verein on Dandenong Road in Prahran — a beer-hall restaurant, bar, gaming rooms and function spaces for live music, dance and community events (the present building has housed the club since 1988). Restaurant and bar service runs Thursday–Saturday from 5pm with dine-in and takeaway; the menu centres on slow-roasted pork knuckle (24-hour pre-order advised), schnitzels, kassler, grilled German sausages, porchetta and spätzle, plus pretzels, pea-and-ham soup and apple strudel or bee-sting desserts, alongside German beers, wines and spirits. The landmark Prahran site sold in March 2025 for a permit-approved residential redevelopment, but the club continues to trade at the address — Google Maps lists business_status OPERATIONAL (Jun 2026), with published NYE and Oktoberfest events through late 2025.
