About Us

Jean-Paul Prunetti's iconic South Yarra French brasserie on Toorak Road — opened 20 February 1986 and still modelled on a compact Parisienne room of close-set tables, French-speaking waiters and celebratory noise. The carte leans on long-running bistro classics (steak tartare, Niçoise, moules marinière, lamb brains, duck breast, crêpes suzette) with seasonal specials; flip-book menus on the official site. One of Melbourne's deepest French wine programs — Time Out cites 8,000+ bottles and ~2,000 references (April 2026); Broadsheet notes 2,100 mostly French labels (March 2026). Victoria's top gong at The Bubbly Review 2025 for champagne service. Reservations by phone only (no online booking portal); contact line weekdays 8am–midnight, weekends 11am–midnight. Open seven days midday–midnight for dining. BYO lunch with no corkage on Mon–Wed (except public holidays) per Time Out. Sister wine bar Le Splendide adjoins next door.
