How ratings workAbout Europa
Family-run Polish-European cafe and cake shop on Koornang Road, opened in 2012 when baker Ryszard Janczewski relocated from his long-running Europa Cakeshop on Acland Street, St Kilda. The compact dine-in room serves preservative-free house cakes, breads and bagels plus sit-down Polish meals (pierogi, borscht, goulash and more), with vegetarian and gluten-free options and a fully licensed bar. Kraków-style cheesecake (sernik krakowski) with lattice pastry was filmed for SBS Food Safari with Maeve O'Meara; Europa Carnegie is the featured business for the Polish episode's sernik segment on SBS Food. Google Maps lists the venue operational (Jun 2026) with active reviewer traffic; The Age Good Food (Oct 2024) highlights bagels, borscht, baked cheesecake and Polish sour rye soup with smoked sausage on the specials board. Catering, custom cakes and function bookings via phone or the site contact form.
