About Cutler

Cutler is a fine-dining restaurant opened by chef Andrew McConnell in 2009, housed in a former metal works factory on Gertrude Street in Fitzroy. The kitchen focuses on refined seasonal cooking using Australian produce from small-scale farmers and growers, with an a la carte menu that rotates regularly. The dining room is architecturally designed with exposed brick and glass, and the restaurant also offers a bar area for walk-ins.

From diners

  • I celebrated my birthday at Cutler and it was a memorable fine dining experience from start to finish. The four course menu was superb, with standouts like Fraser Island spanner crab, wild nettle soup, beef tartare, Abrolhos Island scallops, Murray cod, and dry-aged Aylesbury duck breast, all beautifully showcasing Australian produce. The desserts were just as impressive, especially the chocolate cake, which is still my all-time favorite, making it the perfect place for a special occasion.
