Sumit Malhotra's original Aangan on Barkly Street — opened in 2004 as a two-table takeaway and now a 120-seat anchor of West Footscray's Little India strip. North and South Indian curries, biryanis, tandoori, dosas and Indo-Chinese share a long menu; Malhotra and press cite butter chicken and slow-cooked dal makhani as standouts. BYO wine, rear patio functions and catering; multi-location brand but this Barkly Village site remains the flagship. Google Maps lists the venue as operational; EatClub and Localista show active 2026 trading with recent diner reviews.
